July 2010 1st? Sunday

Post by AntonLargiader »

We floated the idea of actually meeting on the second Sunday (July 11th), given the likelihood of holiday traffic on the roads and in the diners. So we have a date to decide as well as a location.

We could try to organize another combined TVR/BRB event at Otter Creek. That one should definitely be on a non-holiday weekend. I'll give Hank a jingle, but I suppose the MOA crowd will be gone by then.

Looking back through the 'Breakfast spots' thread, there were a lot of places that weren't so good but those reviews are pretty old now. Maybe some of them need to be re-evaluated. Also I've never been to Thomas House in Dayton.

Being the summer, we should check out all of the western locations we can since we tend to come over into the Piedmont in the winter.

July 11th sounds good to me as does west of the Blue Ridge.
Don't have any specific places just yet, I'll ponder it...

I guess we will go with July 11th. Thomas House is not open on Sun. Hank is on his trip to AK and MOA.We can do Thunderbird Dinner west of Elkton or Ms Rowe's in Stauton. Butch

At some point I'd like to do a ride to Helvetia for lunch, but we might have to make sure they are open. That would be a ride from somewhere (for breakfast) to Helvetia and then home; a pretty full day. Maybe that should be the joint event with the TVR?

I wish there were a place west of Churchville we could go, but not all the way to Monterey. The place at West Augusta isn't open any more, is it?

Hmm. Monterey for breakfast. In this weather, that almost sounds like a good idea.

Cyndi and I plan to be there.... If I can get her to wake up early enough for a ride over the mountain this time.

Butch (and anyone else heading to the RA rally), maybe we can do some planning for the ride up to Vermont. Either ride up there together or figure out a rendezvous point. I intend to depart C'ville early on Saturday, July 24th.
