Helvetia Day Ride Oct 23

Post by XILAR8 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:41 pm

The Hutte Restaurant in Helvetia opens for lunch at 11 am and they strongly recommend reservations. Patrons can order from the menu - no buffet. I propose making lunch reservations for 12:30 pm. I plan to leave the Exxon / Mudhouse at Rte 29 & Airport Road in Charlottesville at 8:00 am. I (we?) could swing by other spots to pick up others enroute, but we need to know who's in. Please let me know if you'd like to be included in a lunch reservation.

Hey John, I can meet you at the Crozet MudHouse or the Greenwood Market (250 just west of where 64 crosses, at exit 107). Let me know which is more convenient. I will be done with my coffee by 8:30 and ready to ride. Please add me in for the lunch reservations at the Hutte.

Paul,

Let's meet at the Greenwood Market at 8:30. Harvey plans to join us. To make some time, perhaps we can take I-64 to Staunton then pick up 250. Gas up in Monterey. I made reservations for three at noon. See you tomorrow!

Magnificent ride today!! Harvey, Paul & I rode out to Monterey together where Harvey decided to break off and take another route home. Paul & I continued on to Helvetia where we relaxed and enjoyed a hearty lunch. We had spectacular scenery and great roads without much traffic. We fondly remembered Chuck Auckerman, so Anton's desire to have a ride in his memory came to fruition.

John, I agree, that was a great ride. On the way back, after the gas stop at Monterey, I forgot to put in my earplugs, and I swear I could hear your pegs scraping through the twisties ... the GS is so quiet.
