Hi, My name is David Robinett, and I am former co-worker of Chuck's. I even caught a ride with him or two over the years. I know he was an active member of this organization. I found out via email today that Chuck passed away in his sleep either Monday or Tuesday night of this week. His wife, Suzanne and their children are at their home in Bridgewater, VA. I have no further details at this time.

Anton, I know nothing of the rules on this board. Please place this topic in the appropriate place.

That news is quite a shock, and very sad. I just saw Chuck at the MOA and RA rallies. Thanks for letting us know.

This is sad news indeed. I met Chuck a number of years ago at the Sherando Lake Ralley and we have managed to ride together at least once a year ever since - we frequented the ADV Eastern Rendevous in Hot Springs, NC together and several others. Chuck and I met up just last month at bikes in the Blue Grass ralley. Please let us know if you hear more.

I am just stunned. That was just about the last thing I expected to hear; just saw him at the rally. Who could have known.

FWIW to the new guys here, Chuck has been the guiding force behind the monthly BRB breakfast meetings for the entire time I've been back here in Virginia.

This is indeed sad and shocking news. I just saw Chuck at the MOA and RA rallies. Damn. :(

It's true that Chuck was the driving force behind our "1st Sunday" rides. We will surely miss him, big time.

I have a family thing on Saturday and think the timing will just be wrong. Hopefully the memorial service will be open to friends like us.

I'm sure it will be open to us - I spoke with a family member and us bikers were specifically mentioned. I plan to head down to Bridgewater saturday morning.

There is also a memorial thread over at the ADVrider site at http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=490794 where you can also post memories and photos of Chuck.

Wow... I was away on vacation and just now picked this up. I'm stunned.

VERY sorry I was not around for memorial service. Though I was not a "close" friend, Chuck's easygoing personality and flowing generosity made him seem like an old friend. GREAT guy.

I offer my deepest sympathies to his family.

Godspeed Chuck, I'm sure you roads will be twisty wherever you are.

I had just met chuck this year through "a" at the Blue Grass Camp Night. He was a kind and generous individual and I enjoyed his stories through the night. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Update - I just received this note from Chuck's wife, Suzanne. She asked that this be shared with the Chuck's motorcycling community and invites any of us to speak.

Suzanne, Eliza, and Colin would appreciate your presence at a service honoring the life of Chuck Auckerman. We will meet at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 20 to share memories and take comfort in the company of friends. Join us at Spring Meadows, 820 Natural Chimneys Rd., Mt. Solon, Virginia.
Please RSVP to eliza DOT auckerman AT gmail DOTcom (include if you require directions). Please let us know if you would like to speak at the service.
