Dec. First Sunday

We need a spot to meet for December First Sunday Breakfast. I wont be around, so somebody needs to pick and post a location. MikeyM would probably like it to be a nice, long ride from C'ville!

I haven't really kept up with the locations, but if we're looking to the east, the old candidates are Zion X-roads, the Innwood in Gordonsville, La Taza, the Tavern, Stony Creek, and... that might be about it. The place in Crozet is closed. There's the Mountaineer in Madison but I'm not wild about it. No atmosphere.

There's a new place in Madison across from the Mountaineer, but they weren't open when we went there on a Sunday morning. Same with the cafe in Little Washington.

There's a new place across from La Taza but I don't know when they're opening or if they will do breakfast.

And there's Farmville. But we might want to save that for the REALLY cold weather.

Might I humbly suggest the La Taza? I frequent that nook almost every Sunday that I have been in town. The waitress knows what I want, saving me the embarrassment of butchering the Spanish language trying to order from the menu. To have the entree's numbered would be a convenience that could not be denied.

We went to a new-to-us breakfast place the other day; the Italian/pancake place between the Cavalier Inn and the new footbridge. OK, you have to know C-ville to know what I'm talking about. So... The Italian Villa & Pizza, 129 Emmett Street.

It was decent. More tables than La Taza for sure. Typical breakfast menu; $5 to $8 specials. Good parking. Under new ownership; apparently the previous owner was not terribly pleasant.

Just an idea.

It's getting close to Dec.1. and I thought I might try to join you all if a decision as to when and where has been made.
I know where Gordonsville is!

Hi Joe,

Regular monthly rides are on the first SUNDAY of the month, which falls on the 2nd this month. So... Hope to see/meet you there (wherever "there" is this time around). Has anyone made a "command decision" on the location yet? I'm with J.D.--La Taza sounds good, but then again so does the Innwood in Gordonsville. Well, I suppose we could all ride up and down route 20 or 221 between C'ville and G'ville until someone gets hungry enough to stop somewhere along the way.

But seriously, La Taza would seem to be a good "default" location for this month's Sunday ride. Eat at 9 and ride at 10, as usual?

Cheers,

Mike Sweger

P.S. - Looking forward to trying out my new Gerbing's gear this weekend... Bring on the cold weather!

"...Regular monthly rides are on the first SUNDAY of the month, which falls on the 2nd this month. . ."

Duh. I knew that.

I just checked the WX forcast for Sunday..High of 53 with a 40% chance of showers and 91% cloud cover.

As a relative newbie to riding in the nether months of the year I could probably get to G'ville. If youall decide on Inwood I could make it for breakfast. Not sure of my stamina in the wet . .

Latest forcast has moved the chance of showers to Sunday evening . . . 8)

Chuck seems to be MIA so I'm making the call.

The Inwood in Gordonsville. Gotta make provisions for the new guy.

Also, La Taza (although I really like to go there) isn't really well set up for a group. It takes a goodly amount of luck to get a table there during breakfast hours. The new Italian pizza/breakfast place would be a good spot also but they would have to drag tables around. At the Innwood, there is a large table in the back that we have used in the past. I'll call them tomorrow and post back here if there's a problem.

We have stayed clear of the Inwood for a while for a few reasons. Let's see how things look now.

Good call, Anton. I've not been to Inwood and always happy to try a new place. Plus, big Chris should be pleased about that 'cause it's close to his place, which means he will be able to sleep in a bit longer. :P

See you on Sunday...

OK, I just called the Inwood and we are set for 9:00 AM on Sunday the second. I said eight people; this is really flexible but if I can give them more accurate information I would like to. If you plan to be there, either post here or contact me otherwise. Don't let that stop you from showing up though; we have usually been the only ones in the back so there is plenty of room.

If we are supposed to meet at 10 rather than 9, OK let me know that also and I'll tell them.

Just in case someone doesn't know how to get there, it couldn't be easier. Except for JD who has trouble finding the end of his driveway... :)

From 'The Gordonsville Circle' go north on US15 for a few hundred yards, and you're there. The circle is the intersection of 33, 15, and 231 on the north side of town. Any road you take that leads to Gordonsville will take you to the circle.
