BMW service/repair in Charlottesville

Me again, with another commercial plug.

I'm now ready to do BMW moto service and repairs in Charlottesville. Routine maintenance, seal that pesky oil leak, resurrect that defunct Boxer, whatever. I also am building a decent stock of parts so if you (or anyone else) suddenly needs a new clutch cable or brake pads the night before a trip, I just might be able to help you. Shop time is $45/hr. I can also fetch stranded bikes, change tires, etc. Any work I do will be documented properly for your records.

The motivation for this actually isn't to make tons of money; it's to fill what I see as a void in the local BMW support network. Until now, if someone broke down on the Skyline Drive or the northern BRP, they were totally out of luck. BTDT myself. Especially on a Saturday afternoon, when some people leave on vacations. Hopefully I can save someone's weekend at some point.

Feel free to call if I can help. (434) 295-0496.

My R90S had been sitting for almost two years with some nagging carb and ignition problems that I hadn't been able to lick. When I noticed that Anton was going to start a bike repair shop, I decided to try him out. I knew from his posts on the various Beemer lists that he knew his stuff.

I just picked up my bike from Anton's place today and couldn't be happier with his work. He paid attention to the written history of issues I gave him, fixed them all (plus a number of other items I'd forgotten), and did so very efficiently from a labor time stanpoint. His labor rate is very affordable, especially compared with a dealer's rates.

Anton's background as a mechanical engineer enables him to accurately diagose a problem and its root cause. I highly recommend his shop for your repair needs.

Airhead transmissions - done locally now.

Post-Christmas update! This might be helpful to someone.

I did tell a few folks that I wasn't planning on handling transmission repairs here because of my working relationship with Tom Cutter, who is widely considered THE foremost authority on these, and I have been sending all of those repairs his way. Well, he and I decided that it makes sense to repair Airheads here so I am now tooled up for them. Oilhead trannies will still go to Tom, but I'll have a spare here as an emergency swap. Being able to rebuild the Airhead trannies here means a quick turnaround for standard rebuilds, as I keep the normal repair parts in stock.

As if anyone cares about a quick turnaround right now...

Wow, how 11 years changes things.

Virginia Motorrad is now at 1117 East Market Street in Charlottesville. Unfortunately the shop rate is up to $75/hr but it's still cheaper than the dealerships, and much closer.

BMWs only, 1970 through present. We do lots of drivetrain work (transmissions and final drives especially) and have probably two or three projects per year that you could call restorations. Of course we provide regular service and tire changes, too. A healthy inventory of service and repair parts is on hand and of course anything you need can be ordered. Some machining is done on-site and some is subbed out.

http://largiader.com/shop or call (434) 409-3767.

As a bonus, especially in the winter, we hold a series of movie nights. I will try to post them here as they get scheduled.
