March First Sunday Ride

Post by MTSweger » Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:49 am

Greetings all,

Hope everyone is done clearing driveways of snow for a while and ready to ride those Beemers. Yes, it's high time to unhook the damn battery tenders, inspect your machines, change the fluids, and pour some fresh fuel in the tank after the long winter hibernation period! (Unless you've been riding all along, in which case I'm not sure whether to look at you with utmost respect, outright jealousy, or abject pity reserved for the terminally insane.) :P

Anywho... Looks like we're about to turn the corner towards spring (fingers crossed) and the current forecast for next Sunday is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. Works for me! I'm thinking we should do one one more ride east of the mountains before springtime. It's been a while since we've met in Greene County (hell, it's been a while since we've met anywhere!) and Ruckersville would seem to be a good choice for March. So, unless someone else has a better suggestion, let's plan to meet at Skyline Restaurant (285 Commerce Drive, Ruckersville) on Sunday, March 7th, at 10:00.

You in? :?:

Thanks for taking the initiative Mike. I'm one of the numbnuts [literally] who's been riding.though not very far. See you on the 7th.

With great pleasure, I'll see you there. I've gotten out a few times over the winter albeit short rides with only one ride of any duration. Yet, Daylight Savings is the 14th with the first day of Spring on March 20th. Looking forward eagerly to riding weather.

I actually think I will make this one, which is pretty darned cool (for me at least). I think I haven't been to one since last spring! Maybe it was at Stoney Creek? So long ago, now.

Next exciting decision: what to ride! Rode the R100GS early this week or last week. The R100R was last used some time ... gosh, looks like early December. I have a 'new' 5-speed and cush driveshaft in the /5 to try out; maybe I'll ride that if I don't need a lot of heat. The K75RT is gone - sold! R1100RS has some kind of stumble and hasn't made it into the shop yet. I think that rounds out the list of viable bikes.

I hope to make it if ... I can get a new front tire on Saturday. First ride for me since Late November.

Decent turnout. Mike, Cindy, Bob Weber, Paul, Chris, Butch, Mary, Joe, Harvey, me... did I miss anyone?

We had a grand day splitting some more wood and eventually chipping the brush. Good tiring work.
