Sunday March 4 is coming up fast. Where do we meet? Probably best to stick east of the Blue Ridge for at least one more month. After scanning the breakfast spot thread I came up with these options:
The Tavern
Blue Moon Cafe
Tip Top on Pantops
La Taza


Any preference? Please post.

I'll be down in Daytona this coming weekend. Therefore, my preference is La Taza, since I can go there anytime I want, this way I can go somewhere different to meet you folks next month!

Tavern is a great breakfast place but the students usually have it mobbed on weekends.

I have not been to the Blue Moon. Ever. Don't even know where it is, therefore I recommend this place.

Does the Blue Moon have room for ten of us? I'm only aware of the front section that seemed a little cramped. If there is room, I vote for the Blue Moon. We tried The Tavern on Boxing Day a couple years ago and were lucky to get a table for four. But it was full of after Christmas discount shoppers then, not students.

I will be unable to attent this event as I was called to duty. Have a nice breakfast and my all your eggs be sunny !

There were six of us for breakfast this morning and we gave the Blue Moon Diner the BRB seal of approval. A ride developed heading west on Barracks Road, losing riders along the way until Carl and I split up at the Afton Liberty station on VA 151/6. It looked like it was turning out to be a good day, but the temps dropped back to the mid 30s west of the Blue Ridge.

How about the Inwood Restaurant in Gordonsville next month and a ride up the Old Blue Ridge Turnpike and a loop through Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties?

The nice aspect about the Inwood, is that one feels an obligation to tip given the level of service.

Upon futher review I noticed an oversight in my last posting. I should have stated tha " NO ONE" feels obligated to tip.

OK, hint taken. Any other breakfast spots up that way? I still think it's a good time of year for a ride up the Old Blue Ridge Turnpike and beyond.

In downtown Madison there's the Mountaineer Cafe (opposite the Madison Inn). They're open Sunday from 7:00-2:00. A couple of BMW riders were there when I stopped in today. They said the food was "OK." It caters to locals. Sample menu items: western omelet w/ toast, potatoes & coffee/tea - $5.75; 3 large pancakes w/ 2 eggs & bacon/sausage/ham & coffee/tea - $6.50. The waitress said they could handle a group of 10-12 on Sunday, April 1.

For the more refined dining experience, The Lafayette Inn in Stanardsville would allow us to eat an a la carte breakfast from 8:30-10:30 w/ their guests if we call/email in advance. The owner said a typical "large" breakfast plate w/ coffee would be about $10-12. See

The Layfayette sounds interesting, but I vote for the Mountaineer Cafe in Madison or La Taza in C'ville. We could head north on VA 20 from La Taza and still hit the Old Blue Ridge Turnpike.
