We rode

We did go down there after all - Meredith, Neil and I. As we got to Rockfish Gap we got into rain, and it was tough to say where it wasn't going to rain so we just stuck to the BRP and were in very light rain all the way down to 56. Heading down 56 we nearly got out of the rain by the time we got to...

OK, the weather looks good so we're going to head down there in the AM and probably swing by the event in Vesuvius that Rob posted about in "Events." Drop me an email if you'll be out and about.

Hammersley this Saturday?

Meredith and I are considering a run down to Hammersley this weekend if the weather is nice. No particular reason, but neither of us has been there and it would be a nice run down the BRP if the leaf peepers aren't too bad.

Post if you're interested. If the BRP is clogged we'll do something else.

Way too many people got scared off by the weather. It really only rained on Friday, and was gloomy Thursday night and Saturday AM. By mid-day Saturday the sun was blazing and it has been out ever since. Great GS riding. The MSF dirtbike school was a real hit although I hear one guy broke a leg there...

October breakfast

I won't be making it there, since it's the BMWBMW Octoberfest. If enough people are going to be at that, might we reschedule for the following week? I know we have quite a few BMWBMW members here. I wish there was a nice breakfast place near Stanardsville. Every time I go through I look but I've nev...

Re: Hello

...have a used 1998 1100 GS which has been a dream to ride on. Meredith has the same bike (she's the one in the photo at the top of the page) and will probably be getting blown off the road tomorrow on her way back from Montgomery AL. The Oilhead GS is just an incredibly fun and capable bike. Good ...

Jarman's (Charlottesville) closed now.

EDIT: Jarman's closed its doors in October 2017. ---------------- I stopped in there today, for the first time. A few new bikes, a decent sized shop in the back, and some apparel in the front. I was specifically looking for Sidi boots, but according to the website the nearest dealer is in Harrisonbu...

Tires!

Today I stopped by a sport bike place in Charlottesville - Advanced Race Concepts - and they have some seriously nice tire equipment. $20 to mount and balance a tire that you bring in (probably if you bring the wheels off the bike; I didn't ask specifically). They're open noon to 8PM Monday through ...

TVR 12 corners ride

This is cool! Not exactly an event but a pretty cool idea nonetheless. I found it when I surfed over to Hank's club's website.

Here's the un-framed version.

We have at least one 'corner' town nearby.....

Motorcycle trailer, anyone?

Looking to borrow a trailer for the weekend. Kinda short notice, I know, but the situation just came up. Would need it from tomorrow mid-day until Monday. I'm probably going to buy a Load-Rite trailer pretty soon. When I do, I'll post it under "Goods and services" as available for borrowing. If you ...

R1100 transmission repairs

Somewhat commercial plug here... as Chuck posted on the email update, I have been working with a mechanic to rebuild the sometimes problematic 5-speed Oilhead transmissions. It seems that the work will run around $700, but the depends on the amount of damage. If you have a tranny that's bad, let me ...

Login difficulty

When I log in, I have to do it twice before it 'takes.' Does anyone else have to do this?

Canceled!

Turns out this is canceled. :( Linda Rookard (who organizes it) is out of town and there were only four people signed up.
