Re: Borrow a wrench or socket for top fork nut?

It's just good and tight. Whack with a mallet a few times. It would take incredible carelessness to damage those threads; they are pretty stout.

Re: Borrow a wrench or socket for top fork nut?

Have the toolkit? There's a flat wrench in that which works perfectly. Hit it with a soft mallet.

Re: Hammersley to close motorcycle side?

I've heard the same from a friend who just bought a bike there. Looks like Morton's will be the only dealer within reach of C-ville in a few months.

Hammersley to close motorcycle side?

I heard a report that BMW Motorcycles of Lynchburg (Hammersley's bike business) was going to close late spring or early summer. Anyone know more?

Re: March First Sunday Ride

Decent turnout. Mike, Cindy, Bob Weber, Paul, Chris, Butch, Mary, Joe, Harvey, me... did I miss anyone?

We had a grand day splitting some more wood and eventually chipping the brush. Good tiring work.

Re: March First Sunday Ride

I actually think I will make this one, which is pretty darned cool (for me at least). I think I haven't been to one since last spring! Maybe it was at Stoney Creek? So long ago, now. Next exciting decision: what to ride! Rode the R100GS early this week or last week. The R100R was last used some time...

Re: First Ride of 2010

Some lucky guy got in a ride on my K75RT on Saturday. We're still on cleanup detail so I didn't get out myself. Today would have been OK for Meredith to ride in but the forecast looked pretty bad. As it stands now, it was a fine riding day after all.

February breakfast

Golly, I don't know when I'm going to make it to the next breakfast. It'll be nearly a year. February I'll be down at the Sandblast rally and in March there's a chance I could be at Bike Week. Anyway, it's probably a good thing that this coming weekend isn't the first because it looks pretty chilly ...

January 23: slide show at Morton's

A friend of mine, Jason Adams, is holding a slide show about the GS Trophy in Tunisia. I don't know the details but maybe Morton's will post something on their site (at the moment there isn't anything). Jason was one of the six riders (three journalists and three "reg'lar folk") selected by BMWNA to...

Re: First Ride of 2010

Dang! I haven't moved a bike in a week or more. I'd like to think that streak will end soon, but it's just so bitterly cold most of the time.

A Vetter Quicksilver fairing? On a gray (I think) bike, that would be Ras. Brown with a fairing, not sure.

Re: Our Chartered Club Info - Time to Update?

There is a lot going on with the whole club chartering thing. BMW AG wants the umbrella clubs (the CCA, MOA and RA) to agree to some rather disagreeable terms (none have agreed yet) and then all chartered clubs will be required to use the name BMW in their own name and use the corporate-designed log...

Re: Nov 1'st Sun Breakfast and ride

How'd it go? My yesterday customer didn't get off the lift until about 11:00 this morning, so my 'pick up today' customer's bike didn't get done until about 3 in the afternoon. I was hoping to have that one ready by this morning and at least meet y'all for lunch. Maybe we need to have a THIRD Sunday...

Re: Nov 1'st Sun Breakfast and ride

If the weather's good, is there any interest in a lunch ride to Helvetia? Is the Hutte still serving?
