Feb '06 breakfast

At last month's breakfast we spontaneously decided to return to the same spot in February. So, it looks like we'll be at La Taza in Belmont (SE Charlottesville) on February 6 at 10AM (I'd be up for changing that to 9 if others agree). Great coffee, cute waitresses and Wi-Fi so you can get truly wire...

January breakfast and ride

Butch sez (via me, due to login difficulties):

"Let's do 1st Sunday Ride on the 2nd Sunday, Jan.8. We will try a new restaurant La Taza, address 407 Monticello Rd, Charlottesville, Va at 10am on Jan. 8."

Adam, you could probably walk to this one.

And lest anyone think that the MOA is the only one open to such submissions, let me assure you the BMWRA is also! Tech articles, product reviews, modifications, ideas, even ride stories... contact the editor via www.bmwra.org/contact.html

The weekend is forecast for the mid-40s during the day. Could be nice riding days if you can deal with some early-morning chill.

Motorcycle collision Saturday 11/5

Dan mentioned at breakfast that there'd been a collision just south of Stony Point. I stopped at the scene and saw the aftermath. Bits of Hayabusa and car, cut-off remnants of jeans and a fleece pullover, a running shoe and some oxygen mask stuff. Rider crossed the line in a right-hander, locked up ...

I don't really have a take on it because I'm not a real electronics guy, but Oak is getting a set for evaluation and he will post to the Airlist when he has an opinion. I'll pass it on here. The main concern seems to be that this is a permanent magnet unit, so there is always electricity to get rid ...

Sherando!

Richmond BMW Riders' rally, Labor Day weekend. This is historically the place to be if you weren't going to Finger Lakes. I've never been there, but this year will be the first.

Details here.

Bonfire, Charlottesville June 25

We're thinking of burning up some brush, boxes, old logs, etc. Nothing formal, but we'll have a grill available for edibles. Maybe some marshmallows?

Our place, probably a bit before dark. Post here if you plan to attend.

I think that sounds great. I actually haven't been on the BRP that much this year, and I've always enjoyed breakfast there. Sometimes the service is slow, but that's OK. Dan knows of a guy out in Louisa with a pretty extensive motorcycle collection. If we can arrange a tour, that might make great br...

Square Route Rally

Friday was rainy and we simply were busy with other stuff. In fact I was working until midnight wrapping up the South Dakota project. It's DONE!! Saturday when we woke up I went straight to the /3. I had to replace the coil before we left and see what I could discover about the charging system. Coil...

No prob. For the short trip here, the oil in the swingarm isn't that critical anyway, so you could just ride it without oil if you had to. However you could put the plug in with some teflon tape if it leaks. Yeah, teflon tape is a major danger sign if you're looking at a used bike but for a temp rep...
