MOTO-ST race on Speed Channel Sunday

The MOTO-ST race, which was won by a BMW for which I was part of the crew, will be on Speed Channel tomorrow from 3 to 4 PM. Here's BMW's propaganda about it: BMW Motorcycles on Speed Channel for MOTO-ST endurance race. This weekend, BMW Motorcycle fans and riders have the opportunity to witness his...

Re: Easter on the Blue Ridge

No dues, Lee. The BRB are just a laid-back social network of folks who maintain club charters and the website on a volunteer basis. Chuck does the charters and I host the site and rent the domain name. Not much else to be done. We meet for breakfast once a month and will generally ride in one or mor...

Hi Lee, A few of us were talking about that at breakfast. None of us had any firm ideas about it, but it seemed to be a popular tradition. I had always done a different easter weekend Blue Ridge ride so I never went on Steve's, but maybe this year it'll be time to meet up with y'all since my group h...

I was wondering if we should pay another visit to Mossy Creek in Nellysford. That worked out pretty well I thought.

Looks like the courses are all full (this is pretty common everywhere, not just in Virginia). Once things calm down a bit around here, maybe we can put together a dirt bike day somewhere. I can think of two XR200s and an XR100 we could scrape together.

Hey Mickey, The best way is to sign up for a course held by the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation). They hold state-sponsored courses nationwide. I think the general feeling among experienced riders is that learning from your cousin/friend/whatever isn't the best way because you can learn a lot of b...

Staunton bypass

Anyone notice the southern half of the Staunton bypass has opened? Apparently it runs from 250 down to exit 220 on I-81. Coming from I-64, it cuts a few miles off the route to US250 towards Monterey.

So what happened to you? We saw you go by, northbound, a mile or two north of the meeting point.

Overall it worked out well for Jay and me - once we got around those cars near the power station we had most of 501 to ourselves - but if y'all didn't get around, that must have sucked. That is such a nice stretch from there until it straightens out a few miles before BV. Did Loftus (Buell guy) bail...

Louise opines, "Otter Creek Diner: friendly service but slow. Pancakes and FToast had an alarmingly high syrup absorbency rate. Hash browns were good, surprisingly so given their pedestrian appearance; I was only commenting that I wish more places served shredded HBs instead of chunky HBs. And the c...

...we discussed going back to The Hut in Helvetia. That sounds good. I bet I could get Louise to go along again for that ride. Meanwhile, we can also do a first Sunday breakfast at the Sherando rally. I talked to the rallymaster about it and he said no prob. I thought that would be convenient for t...

Otter Creek restaurant, opinions?

I wasn't too impressed. The food was so-so and the service was a bit spotty. It's definitely a nice location, though. Coffee was good, but the ham was too salty (salted ham apparently needs to be rinsed, this wasn't). Pancakes were pretty heavy. Home fries looked good to me but Louise thought they s...
