Re: VA Maps, sign logic

Interesting about the sign shapes. I hadn't thought if it in that detail. Usually the small rectangular ones seem to mark the direction that one goes in, but on the road itself you'll see something else, like a round one. Hmm. As for a map, the Delorme Gazetteer seems to be the best for showing ever...

I have a family thing on Saturday and think the timing will just be wrong. Hopefully the memorial service will be open to friends like us.

Re: Chuck Auckerman

I am just stunned. That was just about the last thing I expected to hear; just saw him at the rally. Who could have known.

FWIW to the new guys here, Chuck has been the guiding force behind the monthly BRB breakfast meetings for the entire time I've been back here in Virginia.

Re: Anyone else hear about the head-on motorcycle crash?

It's the only real curve in that whole section of road. If I picture it properly, Neve cut the left-hand corner and hit the oncoming bike. It's unexpectedly tight, but not THAT tight, so if they say speed wasn't a factor then Neve was just being stupidly lazy by using both lanes. You can do that cor...

Re: R1100 transmission repairs

Wow, what an old post. I've been repairing these myself for years now.

Screech? Unusual, but in general I think repairing is better than replacing, but it is usually more expensive. If you're local, I'd suggest you pull it out and bring it by.

I'll be in Switzerland that day, but I will do my best to ride a motorcycle. :)

Re: BRB stickers

Sounds fine, but I'm happy to let you have the final say on the numbers. At $2 it's obviously not about the money. Say 40 stickers get sold per year; that's about $60 of pure capitalistic greed-driven profit (woo-hoo, let's go to Tahiti!) which covers the MOA fee ($10?) plus more than its share of m...

Re: BRB stickers

Troy has the stickers. A BMW-riding customer of mine has a business in town doing lots of cool signage (everything from decals to sandblasted stone) and he made them. Charged me a low price and then threw in the protective film (extending the sticker life in direct sunlight) for free. Since the BRB ...

Re: May 1st Sun ride

Pretty wet morning, just Troy, Hilko and I. Stoney Creek didn't open until 10:00 so we headed up to Waynesboro. The Cracker Barrel was packed so we went to Lynne's. I kept a small stack of stickers but gave the rest to Troy. If he wants to hand them off to someone else, OK. More on that in the stick...

OK, quick show of hands, let's see who can make it. I'll finalize a destination by tomorrow night, but suggestions are welcome.

Re: BRB stickers

We weren't there. We won't be good for much of anything socially until late May, but we'll try to make breakfast.
