Re: Chuck Auckerman

Nice turnout for Chuck's memorial today. It was good to see you guys and hear the words of remembrance from just a few of Chuck's many friends. Wish I had known Chuck longer than just a few years, but I am honored to have ridden with him and learned much from his experiences in that short time. Chuc...

Re: Chuck Auckerman

This is indeed sad and shocking news. I just saw Chuck at the MOA and RA rallies. Damn. :(

It's true that Chuck was the driving force behind our "1st Sunday" rides. We will surely miss him, big time.

Re: MOA RALLY

Butch, I'm planning to head south much earlier than noon (probably depart C'vile by 7:00 a.m.), but I might see you down at Willville if I decide an early stop for the day is in order. Otherwise, I will press on to Grayson Highlands or somewhere thereabouts to camp for the night. If I don't stop at ...

Re: Relay for Life of Buckingham

More details from Sherry Midkiff (stylingforu@yahoo.com), in case anyone was wondering about the date and time for this event: Hello, the event is on May 3rd @ 2:00 p.m. We had a slight change in prices, but it was only to be able to include dinner. The price is $20 for single rider and $25 double r...

Re: Relay for Life of Buckingham

From the BRB e-mail: Hi, I am organizing a motorcycle run in Cumberland Va to benefit the relay for life of Buckingham. All of the money raised will benefit the american cancer society. After the run we will have a "family event" that all are welcome to and will feature music, food, and more. The c...

Re: Easter on the Blue Ridge, 12 April 2009

Chuck suggested that we should do a light lunch (sandwiches, etc.) instead of trying to compete with the Easter Sunday crowds. I'm inclined to agree. Let's plan to "brown-bag" it for the Easter ride. We can still drop off the Parkway at Buena Vista to refuel, rehydrate, and grab a quick snack. -MTS

Re: April First Sunday

Nice ride today, gents! Couldn't ask for better weather to explore all those back roads in Greene and Madison Counties. US-211 over the mountain to Luray was fun, as always. The Valley sure is nice this time of year. It's starting to get green over there, for sure. After our stop at Elkton, Big Chri...

Re: April First Sunday

Let's give the Skyline Restaurant at Ruckersville another try Sunday, April 4. Route suggestions? How about heading north for a change. Sounds good, Chuck. I'm there! Suggested route (see http://tinyurl.com/dj52c7 for details): North on US-29 --> VA-621/VA-622 to Wolftown VA-230 --> VA-657/658 to R...

Re: Easter on the Blue Ridge, 12 April 2009

Well, it looks like the Otter Creek Restaurant (http://www.peaksofotter.com/rest_ottercreek.html) doesn't open until May 1st, so that's out. One alternative would be the Lake View Restaurant (http://www.peaksofotter.com/rest_lakeview.html) at Peaks of Otter... ...or, we could drop off the Parkway at...

Easter on the Blue Ridge, 12 April 2009

Who is up for an " Easter on the Blue Ridge " ride this year? Easter 2009 falls on April 12th . I figure we can meet at the old Howard Johnson's in Afton around 9:45 and be ready to roll by 10:00. Then we can run down the Parkway and stop at Otter Creek for lunch. That way, anyone who wants to meet ...

Re: March 1st Sunday

I was on the way by car, heading farther east after brunch. Things started icing up crossing Rockfish Gap, so I assumed no one else was going to show and kept heading down I-64. Maybe we can get in a Saturday Lunch ride later this month when roads clear. Keep an eye on EVENTS. Smart move, Chuck. Cy...

Our Chartered Club Info - Time to Update?

All, Received my MOA Anonymous Book yesterday and noticed that our club information appears to be out of date. This prompted me to look at our listings with the national organizations online. Here is our listing from the BMW MOA web site's Chartered Clubs section ( http://www.bmwmoa.org/club/charter...
