We came, we burned, we drank, we ate. Meredith's folks were visiting, Chuck and his family (Suzanne and Eliza) showed up, Steve (our realtor), Dan and Debby, Neal, Steven and Cathy... and us. I think that's it. Lit a big old fire, stood around and drank some beer and talked motorcycling. About eight...

Bonfire, Charlottesville 1/15/05

Chase away the January doldrums with a bonfire! This Saturday, weather permitting, we'll be having a bonfire here and grilling some stuff. Anyone local is free to drop by. Nothing major, just a big fire (we need to get rid of some brush) and some beer and grillable stuff. BUT please let me know if y...

Techlusion's website has a lot of good info. Here is one page describing the changes from the older type to the R259.

Airhead transmissions - done locally now.

Post-Christmas update! This might be helpful to someone. I did tell a few folks that I wasn't planning on handling transmission repairs here because of my working relationship with Tom Cutter, who is widely considered THE foremost authority on these, and I have been sending all of those repairs his ...

What a pair of bikes! Just about perfect.. well, maybe the R69 could be an Earles-fork R69S, which happens to be my current wallpaper.

See you at an event some time. Not sure if I'll be at the Boxing Day breakfast or not.

I actually went to The Tavern for the first time for breakfast on Sunday. It was remarkably uncrowded, probably due to students being out of town for the holidays. Anyway, good food. Not cheap ($6-ish for the typical breakfast). I think it's worth keeping in mind.

Riding? Oh yeah! Went out today on the /5. I REALLY need to install a power outlet on that bike.

In that case, if you're going to be in the DC area I would definitely go to Battley. Being a Harley dealer they have quite a lot of clothing in stock. Lots of Sidis. For stuff like boots, I want instant gratification and proof that they are comfortable. Give them a call. BTW Meredith's parent...

The Honda dealer in Harrisonburg also sells Sidis, and they have some in stock (mostly offroad, though). I went there looking for Sidi Discoverys and ended up finding them in stock at my BMW dealer in Maryland (Battley Cycles). Have you tried Morton's and Hammersley?

Ordering tires 11/23/04

From Southwest Moto. If you need just one, save the shipping by adding it to my order. Pick it up here or I can install it when you need it. Let me know by tomorrow morning, 11/23.

I was thinking about the Boyer yesterday. The /5 that I just got isn't sorted out yet but it's close. I'm gonna inspect the timing advance and if that area needs new parts I might be tempted to try the Boyer on it, even if I pull it off later on and swap parts with the race bike.

R1100R or R1150R owners?

Local rider's thinking of upgrading to an R1100R or R1150R. Anyone local have one that she could take a good look at?

Also, is the seat height adjustable on the R1150R?

Definitely read the plugs, though. Best way would be to ride for a while at the speed that was giving you problems before, and after several minutes of that just kill the motor (tough with the Boyer, I know!) and coast to the side with the clutch in. Pull the plugs and see... might tell you to go on...

Breakfast spots?

PLEASE DON'T POST EVENTS HERE. Start a thread in "Events" for each monthly breakfast. ========================== I'm a sucker for good breakfast places. The more diner-y the better. Theresa's in Crozet is a great spot, IMO. Lynne's in W-boro is quite good... family-restaurant rather than diner, but ...

BMW service/repair in Charlottesville

Me again, with another commercial plug. I'm now ready to do BMW moto service and repairs in Charlottesville. Routine maintenance, seal that pesky oil leak, resurrect that defunct Boxer, whatever. I also am building a decent stock of parts so if you (or anyone else) suddenly needs a new clutch cable ...
