I did some research and you will need to partially disassemble the rear drive in order to helicoil the threads. Special tools are required for the disassembly, and then the Helicoil kit is over $70. It's far from a trivial task. Let me know if you want me to do this, so I can order the tools. Your c...

You generally need a real AP store for stuff like that, not a boutique like Advance or AutoZone. NAPA on Preston Ave has the stuff I need. The tap you need is a 12-1.5 (I have one here). Another problem is that there is very little room behind the hole for the tap to go. It's unlikely that you'll be...

Lots o' Beemers on the road this weekend

There were four of us riding down around Batesville, Crozet and up to Nortonsville this AM. We also saw an 1150GS & a 650 on 810, an R1100RT near Earlysville, and an 1150RT in Crozet. Any idea who? We were doing the "Black Boxer" tour. Spanned 51 years I think. http://www.largiader.com/misc/bboxers....

Rototiller needed

If you have a decent rototiller in the Charlottesville area and want to trade something, I need to borrow one. Will trade an oil change or something like that. Gimme a ring. (434) 295-0496. I'll pick it up and drop it off afterwards.

How did this go? Sunday ended up being a pretty nice day (windy, but nice) out here in the Midwest.

Anything happening w/e 4/22?

I'm ready for a nice relaxed ride somewhere, but I can't find an event. There's a vintage bike meet up in the Fairfax area, but I'm not going there.

Anyone know of anything? Maybe something happening down the Parkway somewhere?

We got there too late

Considering that I had to reassemble both bikes after getting home from South Dakota on Friday, one of which hasn't run since we bought it, we were probably doing well to arrive at all. The /3 was pretty straightforward, but I did have to rig a different battery since the stock one was shot. The reb...

Meredith and I plan to be there on the Airheads. I haven't even tried to start the /3 yet but hopefully it won't be too bad. The tranny is back on the /5 and it just needs another hour or two of work.

The day was just spectacular for riding. We had to get home because a friend was visiting; turns out he was a few hours late but we needed time for chores anyway.

Monday was just incredible. I ended up riding for about two hours, going to borrow a truck, and I thought it was a perfect day.

Re: March Breakfast

Time to pick a breakfast spot for March First Sunday. Is Cuzz's still around? Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. We stopped there on the way back from NC when I got my PD. I'm up for the Crescent. I agree with whoever didn't like the Innwood; it's OK but hole-like. But after this we will REALL...

For us, it depends which weekend in June. I went to their website and something's really wrong there. But if it works out, we could probably bring the R51/3 and the /5 as interesting older bikes. Maybe if we get a press demo we can come up with an R1200RT or ST. As for judging... if it isn't a Beeme...

Website going to wrong page

I had a new issue today. When going to this site from an office building downtown, an entirely different page came up. I traded emails with the support guy at the domain registry company who said I should switch nameservers from the web hosting company to theirs but we would get banner ads and popup...

3/19/05 Bonfire and sock-burning

Yes, sock-burning. It's apparently a tradition in some places and who are we to argue? The Vernal Equinox can be an excuse for all sorts of things. I personally will use this as an opportinity to effect as much of a wardrobe renewal as I can, but don't feel compelled to join in. However, if you have...

Last weekend we went to the Tip Top, up on Pantops. It's not very big, but it might work for a small breakfast gathering.
