August '06 breakfast...

[idea about Stuart's Draft deleted] I just took a tour of the Draft. Nothing useful from what I could see. The place I'd been told about seemed more like a rustic Tastee-Freez than a diner. I did, however, hear that there's an Amish place in Harrisonburg near the fairgrounds. Sounds like a smorgasbo...

I hear there's a diner in Stuart's Draft on 340 (near 608). Anyone been there? Think they could handle a half dozen of us?

edit: nothing that's appropriate for a group.

I just stopped in to see Cyndi and Mike (I'm local to UVa hospital after all) and he's in pretty damned good spirits. His legs are all bandaged up after the reconstruction and a coupla tubes stick out here and there, but he's alert and talking well. Sounds like he's in some pain but he never even go...

Can't access that picture. If it's a good one, send it to me and I'll post it somewhere.

I hope to go visit Mike today, if he's still here in the hospital.

Wow. Chuck, you have some inherent problem in the bike. There's a thread on BMWST showing how some bikes have machining issues which cause misalignment between the crankshaft and the transmission. If you have failed clutch splines again, DON'T just let them put it back together. While the tranny is ...

One to avoid

We stopped at The Cabin in Brandywine on our way back from Blue Grass. It's a quaint sort of atmosphere but nothing we'll return to. For one, the food wasn't great. The eggs and biscuit weren't hot, and the home fries were very undercooked. I sent the home fries back; they came back much hotter but ...

That sportbike place here in town moved. I forget where, but they are no longer at the place next to Martin's.

Meredith and I will definitely be going out for this one. I'll be holding some sort of Oilheads tech seminar. I also might be joining or leading some sort of ride in Colorado on the way there or right after the rally, although I don't think I'll hang around for Paonia. I'll probably take the long wa...

Let's see... Phil, Bill, Troy, Duner, NewK12Guy (name escapes me, ARRGH!), Meredith, JD, and I... eight I guess. I don't know that anyone went on a specific ride afterwards. Meredith and I just moseyed home and then I did a bit of dirt riding with the neighbors. Our 'old bikes' had a good day out; i...

I figured most of the gang was going to go down to 56 but everyone followed us up to the BRP at Wintergreen. I pulled off at an overlook to let some folks pass and then took the Smiths on a tour of Dogpatch before hooking up with the rest of y'all in Greenwood. Next month, Farmville sounds great. In...

Well, about ten of us are here enjoying the coffee and planning a ride. Looks like a really nice day for a ride, if slightly chilly (NOAA projected high of 46).

Vroom vroom.
