RA Rally this weekend?

Who is going? Pretty sure I am. If the weather is really sketchy I will probably go in the RV but I will go no matter what.

Man, I haven't been to the SRR in probably close to ten years. I miss it. How was it?

Re: Sunday, July 1, 2018 Breakfast/Ride

We are out of town camping, but I can try to make Sunday the 8th if that works for anyone, or the 15th. The 22nd I will be at the RA and then we'll be out o town for a few weeks.

Re: Breakfast spots?

Jack's Shop Kitchen in Ruckersville (at 29/33 intersection) might be worth a try for breakfast. I've been there for the last two Birthday Rides... it's a perfectly fine place, with lots of space, good food and good coffee. Not the cheapest place but reasonable. We could do FAR worse than meeting th...

Re: Yay! The BRB Web Site and Forum Lives!

I am going to the RA. Probably will just do a 1-day dash up there but no firm plans yet. We're leaving the country early the following week so I have to make an expedient return as well. I had planned to do some sort of tech seminar but the rally dude said they were booked with that sort of stuff, s...

Scooters, Mopeds and other non-BMW repair

With Jarman's closed, there is a real hole in the availability of support for other motorcycles. I really wish someone would open a scooter repair shop so I had a good reference for all of the people who call me. I'll try to post whatever I can find here. Potential resources: - Wayne Cycles https://...

CLOSED! :(

Unfortunately as most people know by now, Jarman's closed its doors for good last fall. They were the longest continuously operating Yamaha dealer in the US but ran into a string of issues starting with the 2007 recession and ultimately had to close.

Re: BMW service/repair in Charlottesville

Wow, how 11 years changes things. Virginia Motorrad is now at 1117 East Market Street in Charlottesville. Unfortunately the shop rate is up to $75/hr but it's still cheaper than the dealerships, and much closer. BMWs only, 1970 through present. We do lots of drivetrain work (transmissions and final ...

Re: Motorcycle Campgrounds

I've stayed at Cruso, HCCC, and Iron Horse. Oh, and Willville. My recollection is that there's no way HCCC is five minutes from the Parkway. Getting there via 421 is a 20 minute ordeal. There is a back way that saves a few minutes but nothing huge. Meredith and I stayed at Iron Horse some eight or n...

Yeah, not bad.
You, Bob W, Jay, Jeff, Randy, Alex, me, Meredith, Vivien, Adrienne, Tom, John, Roy, Dick, Bob R, Philipe, Bud... I'm missing the guy who was sitting right across from me. 16 riders sounds right.

Re: Cars and Coffee Cville.

A web search indicates it used to be at C-ville Coffee from 7~9 AM. Is it the same time frame at Barracks Road? Isn't that ending a bit early?

Re: Breakfast spots?

It's been a while. Looking at Google Maps, I think Lynne's has become a Mexican restaurant like so many others have. La Taza continues to decay slowly (for us it is summer-only now) but the coffee is good IMO. Meredith and I became regulars at The Villa (Emmett Street) for a while, but they have onl...

Wow, it's been so long. Maybe I will make it.

BTW, * BIG THANKS * to Bob, who notified me that the domain registration for BRB had expired. It was on auto-renew but the credit card on file had gotten replaced.

It's probably time I updated the forum software, too.
